AGM. Well another AGM has come and gone. We were quorate, which was a start! Len Dyer was elected for his second year as President; the other Officers were coerced into another year; the Vice-Presidents proposed in the last newsletter were duly installed and the achievements and accounts of the last year were examined. Apologies were received from Brian French who was coming up from 'down-under' but not in time for the meeting.

School Concert. The President and several members visited School for the Annual Concert back in March. They enjoyed a varied evening with excellent performances from the Concert Band, the Swing Band, ensembles and soloists. The Jazz Group were a sensation, as were the Sax Quartet, who also performed at a recent Blitz Memorial Concert in Bath. ( just 60 years ago if your memory is that long). I seem to find it increasingly difficult to distinguish between the staff and pupils. A sign of something?

E-mail address? I now send around a dozen newsletters by e-mail. It's quick and saves a lot of postage. If you are on 'The Net', send me an e-mail and I'll add you to the list. I can export in most formats and add photos if you have the software. The news is also added to the web-site after a short interval, with any photos in their full glory. Contact me at rogerw@oldsulians.org.uk for this or with any news.

And talking of e-mails, Fred Ward (1950), now in Canada, found us whilst browsing around the Net. He hopes to be in touch with old friends including Bowrey the bat hunter!

Sadly Ken Dawes (1934), passed away in March. Ken was President in 1962, and with his brother Bryan, was responsible for a lot of the entertainment at Su's functions post war. The President and a number of members were at Haycombe for the funeral.

The Bath Chronicle issued an excellent supplement on the Bath Blitz in April, including mention of the attack on The School. A former pupil described how several fires blazed and were put out by two Masters on fire watch who undoubtedly saved The School! For the following week boys had to go to the girl's school. What suffering! What I had not appreciated was that more than 400 were killed during those three days and the damage was far greater than I realised. It doesn't hurt to be reminded now and then!
