Len Dyer-President

Now I know it has been a long time coming , but here he is. Len served his time from '43 to '49. He played rugby at school and spent 2 seasons with The Su's. On leaving, he went to work at Fry's Chocolate works at Keynsham (Spelt K.E.Y. etc.!) where he soon graduated to putting the bubbles in crunchie bars. He was also 'advised' to play for their rugby team. Some years later he founded a family garage which is today 'Patchway Autoparts' near Bristol. Although he's meant to be retired, he still does the books and helps cover holidays. Married to Beryl for 47 years, he has 2 daughters and 8 grandchildren. He enjoys the occasional game of golf and is a model railway enthusiast.
Annual Dinner

The rogues gallery comes courtesy of Norman Cook, and shows guest speaker John Wragg, the President and the Headmaster. I was unable to attend at the last minute but have had good reports about the food and speeches. The long distance award went to Charlie Penwill from the USA
NEWS
Ross Watts has confirmed that he has found his missing best-man, Ron Harrison. (see last issue) David Bradwell ('49) has been in touch from San Francisco and provided the photo of Len! The President presented the Sulian Trophies at The School Presentation Evening to Lucy Cowie and Jamie Barter. Theo Trim sadly informed us of the death of Jimmy Knight ('38). An ex-SOE man from WW-II Jimmy retired to Spain. He is famously known for having dislocated his replacement hip joint at the '38 reunion in 1988, but delayed calling the ambulance until after 'closing time'. I remember him propped on the floor with a pint in his hand surrounded by his friends, in full flow! The Association is to sponsor a match at Lansdown on March 16th, Su's v Chard. All members welcome. As you can see from the AGM Agenda, above, we hope to install a number of new Vice-Presidents. This is an honorary title and recognises notable service to The School or Association. Apart from the usual suspects listed, Jimmy Ewing was a Governor at the time of 'opting out', one of the 'Gang of Three'! As an Honorary Life Member, he has given great support to the Association and the Committee is delighted to propose this honour. Finally, we welcome new members G Yates (61), P Provest (48), K Ruffell (46) and S Ruddick (82).
